Hawke’s Bay Hospital continues to remain extremely busy with an increase in admissions of people experiencing respiratory illnesses like asthma, pneumonia and bronchitis.
Hawke’s Bay parents are invited to take part in this week’s global “Big Latch On” event at registered locations across the region to help promote the health and wellbeing benefits of breastfeeding.
Hawke’s Bay Hospital is busy and people with less serious health concerns are asked to think twice before going to the Emergency Department.

Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is very sad to report that a woman in her 90s, who had campylobacter infection, died yesterday evening from an unrelated medical condition. The woman who was from Havelock North was admitted to Hawke’s Bay Hospital during the campylobacter outbreak.

Napier’s disabled community got a boost last week following the reinstatement and upgrade of a pool hoist at Napier Health’s hydrotherapy pool. The hoist was decommissioned in 2012 following a Department of Labour review that determined it was not fit for purpose.
