Three cases of Paratyphoid confirmed
Hawke's Bay District Health Board is investigating three Paratyphoid cases reported over the last week. Paratyphoid is a similar illness to typhoid fever and can cause serious illness. All three people have needed hospital care. -

SYPHILIS. It’s back. Get tested. Get Treated
Cases of syphilis, a sexually transmissible infection (STI) that can cause serious health problems if left untreated and poses a serious risk to unborn babies, are expected to rise in Hawke’s Bay with national figures more than doubling since 2015.

Waipatiki Lagoon Swimming warning
People are being warned not to swim in Waipatiki Lagoon due to contamination. The levels exceed the maximum values recommended in New Zealand’s Recreational Water Guidelines and indicate that, at the time of sampling, there were excessive amounts of faecal matter, either animal or human in the water.

Free bus trial for DHB staff
A free bus fare incentive for staff getting to and from Hawke’s Bay Hospital and Napier Health will kick off from 10 July, Hawke’s Bay District Health Board (HBDHB) announced today.

Minister opens Ruakopito – Hawke’s Bay’s new gastroenterology and endoscopy services building
Minister of Health, Hon Dr David Clark officially opened Hawke’s Bay’s new gastroenterology and endoscopy services building at Hawke’s Bay Hospital today (Tuesday 2 October 2018). The $13 million dollar facility will boost the hospital’s ability to prevent and treat gastro and bowel conditions, including bowel cancer.
