Presentations to accident and medical centres today have been high with 40 people so far presenting to Hastings Health Centre. Other accident and medical centres in the area are also seeing increased numbers of people with vomiting and diarrhoea.

Napier’s disabled community got a boost last week following the reinstatement and upgrade of a pool hoist at Napier Health’s hydrotherapy pool. The hoist was decommissioned in 2012 following a Department of Labour review that determined it was not fit for purpose.
Strict infection control measures are in place in some wards of Hawke’s Bay Hospital to prevent the spread of Norovirus, a highly contagious vomiting and diarrhoea bug. Chief Medical and Dental Officer John Gommans said Norovirus was circulating in the community.
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is prepared for the third junior doctor strike, which will also coincide with a 12 hour midwifery strike, next week at Hawke’s Bay and Wairoa Hospitals.
Water from the Havelock North town water supply no longer needs to be boiled before drinking. The third clear water test in a row came back today, allowing the boil water notice to be lifted.

What is elective surgery?Elective surgery at Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital is surgery that is not needed immediately. It is planned surgery for patients who need it the most and will benefit the most, compared to other people with similar conditions.
