A free bus fare incentive for staff getting to and from Hawke’s Bay Hospital and Napier Health will kick off from 10 July, Hawke’s Bay District Health Board (HBDHB) announced today.
Six cases of Paratyphoid Fever have now been confirmed by Hawke’s Bay District Health Board, today (26 September). Five confirmed cases have required hospital care at Hawke’s Bay Hospital, and another has needed treatment in Auckland. All patients are recovering with treatment.

Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is investigating four confirmed cases of Paratyphoid Fever and is following up three suspect cases. All four confirmed cases have required hospital care at Hawke’s Bay Hospital. At least two of the cases ate mussels gathered from Napier’s Ahuriri area.
A swimming warning on Pandora Pond in Napier is back in place following today’s test results which again shows high levels of bacteria in the pond.
