Hawke’s Bay Hospital services will be severely impacted with many outpatient clinics and non-emergency surgeries postponed due to next week's planned three-day, 73 hour national strike by junior doctors. Contingency planning is in place to ensure emergency and urgent care services are available at Hawke’s Bay Hospital.

More people presenting to Hawke’s Bay Hospital in the past 24 hours with a stomach bug has seen the hospital close its Acute Assessment Unit (AAU) to act as an isolation unit for people with the bug.

Hawke’s Bay Hospital continues to remain extremely busy with an increase in admissions of people experiencing respiratory illnesses like asthma, pneumonia and bronchitis.
Hawke’s Bay Hospital services will be impacted with many outpatient clinics and non-emergency surgeries postponed or put on stand-by due to next week’s planned two day (48 hour) national strike by junior doctors.
Hawke’s Bay Hospital is at capacity, and unless it’s an emergency, people are asked to seek medical care from their family doctor, medical centre, pharmacy or to call Healthline.
School-based clinics for children aged 0-13, and for adolescents attending Wairoa College up to the age of 18, help parents prevent their children having poor oral health.
The Maternity Resource Centre at 234 Kennedy Rd is a one-stop shop for pregnancy and early parenting needs. It provides pregnancy tests, support to find a midwife, midwifery assessments and clinics, breastfeeding support and pregnancy and parenting information.
