Felicity the Greyhound is a new member of Hawke’s Bay Hospital’s Intensive Care team. While she might not have the medical and nursing backgrounds of those who work in the unit, she’s no fool to working out who needs a pat or a friendly paw.
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is continuing to warn people to avoid all contact with water from Ahuriri Estuary after verification the water is contaminated with high levels of E-coli.
People are being warned not to swim in Pandora Pond, Napier, until further notice due to contamination. Hawke’s Bay’s District Health Board Medical Officer of Health, Dr Nicholas Jones, said monitoring by Hawke’s Bay Regional Council had identified high levels of bacteria in water from samples taken this week.
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board is supporting a worldwide campaign to stamp out viral hepatitis and raise awareness to find an estimated 25,000 New Zealanders who go undiagnosed with Hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is a highly infectious virus that is spread through blood-to-blood contact.
