A total of five people are in Hawke’s Bay Hospital with campylobacter, two fewer than yesterday.
Four retailers have been caught selling cigarettes to children under 18 years of age following a controlled purchase operation carried out recently in Hastings and Napier.
Hawke’s Bay District Health Board’s (HBDHB) investment into offering free bus fares for people attending outpatient appointments at Hawke’s Bay Hospital and Napier Health is already making an impact with 345 outpatients choosing to take the bus during its first month of operation.

Three cases of Paratyphoid confirmed
Hawke's Bay District Health Board is investigating three Paratyphoid cases reported over the last week. Paratyphoid is a similar illness to typhoid fever and can cause serious illness. All three people have needed hospital care.
