Cervical Screening

Women who are aged between 25 and 69 years, and have been sexually active, should have a cervical smear test every three years. 

 

HPV screening is the method for cervical screening in Aotearoa New Zealand. HPV testing is a better first screening test. It looks for the human papillomavirus (HPV), which causes cell changes that may lead to cervical cancer.  There are two types of screening options.  Find out more here:
